To Be or not to Be ?…that is still the question
(December 2006)
I am often asked, “What is my work for humanity and for mother earth? or what is my mission?”
You can be a construction worker, an artist, a medical doctor or a stay at home mom; it all has the same importance. Some individuals fall into the trap of believing that their work is of more value than others and that the world would not be the same without their contribution. Others are just as ensnared in their own belief that the job they have at the moment is of no great consequence or yet just temporary until ‘what ever difficulty is removed from their lives’ allows them to finally pursue their “healing work” or something they believe to be of more value. Please do not doubt or belittle the work you are presently doing and be certain not to place anyone on a pedestal!
One of the most difficult concepts to grasp is that it doesn’t matter what we ‘do’. No work is more valuable than another, it is the state of being from which we do it that is of greatest importance. When we label our selves or our work, we are identifying and functioning once again at the mercy of our social conditioning and this is when we become very small.
Our most important mission is living every moment as impeccably as possible within every activity we are doing. Perfection is that of Spirit / God. When we are engrossed in ‘doing’ we actually sever our connection from Spirit, because Spirit is accessed through the state of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’. As long as our anchor in life is focused outside of ourselves, we cannot be in our true power, as our true power lies within.
Life is not about what we do but about who we are. Concerning ourselves with the past and the future shows us that we have forgotten who we are and that once again we have given our power away. By realizing that our mission is to ‘be’ the best we can ‘be’ from moment to moment, in all that we do, whether in activities that we love or the less pleasant chores of life, we then allow Spirit to reveal all the knowledge, guidance and gifts that we need on this magnificent journey: literally taking every task that is presented to us, to Heart.
When we resist being in the moment, we resist life. When we stop resisting life and decide to be fully present in our bodies and in our power at every moment, the work begins. We then come to know that the importance of focusing within and being whole affects everyone and everything, since we are all One.
The greatest contribution and service to humanity and mother earth can only happen through the Heart and our performing our work from the wisdom and power of our inner state of being.
